The only acceptable lie is a social lie. For example, your best friend is wearing a new dress. It's a hideous color and the style is all wrong for her. When she asks you what you think what are you going to say? Tell the truth and hurt her feelings or find something positive to say about the dress?

Otherwise, lying is never "ok."

in general it's not cool to lie to your friends cause if they ever find out which they probably will cause things always have they're way of travelling around, they would become very upset with you for lieing in the first place.

Now there are times though that are great to lie, like if one of your friends wanted to do beef to someone you knew and cared about, but you knew where the person they were looking for, it's good to lie and say something like "oh, that person just went to grab the bus." or " i haven't seen her around today" sort of a thing.

i had a group of friends once when i was in high school and after school was over and done with, lets say they weren't loyal and could not be trusted cause of the things they did, so i keep my profile low, and i have a low list of friends. friends who i know i can trust and won't back stab. Hope this helps, sorry for rambling.

Only if it is a minor lie to save your friends felings like if they ask you if their hair looks OK and it doesn't but you are already out and there is nothing you can do about it. But if you tell big lies then you have to keep up the story forever and that gets hard and if they ever find out they will really feel betrayed because you are supposed to be their friend.

I say no. Lies on purpose, or lies based upon omission lead to mistrust in my opinion. So you lie, and the person you lied to finds out..well then everything you ever told this person becomes somewhat suspect. And to call it a "friendship" and lie, when friendships are based upon trust and integrity...well it is not much of a friendship after that.

Lies are awful as you say one and before you know it is spiraling out of control.. The odd one as long as you dont get caught is ok... I would tend to more exagurate then outright lie.. Ie I came home last night at 11 and had 3 pints as apposed to eight and hot coco, at least you went out and people saw you out

Depends upon the situation. Sometimes we have to lie if the things get better.

Once in a while is fine, but it wouldn't be fare if you do it all the time. Your friends might think that you are not a good friend because you never tell the truth.

it is never OK to lie unless you are sparing ones feelings like do I look fat and you say no when they really do because you know that the truth would hurt them and not help them
