most freshmen do have trouble studying. i know i did (i'm a junior now). i had no idea how to study. but everyone studies differently and you just have to try things to see what works best for you.

maybe you work best at the library. when i have a big test to study for i like to go to the library and hide myself back in the back of the library so i'm away from all distractions (like my TV or computer at home!). maybe reading helps you learn. for me writing things down a few times helps me remember. maybe you study best to music...

different things work best for different people. just experiment with different ways of studying to find out which way works best for you. good luck.

It takes a minimum of 3 weeks to make a good habit, so be patient with yourself. I am a big fan of the timer, get a good one, and set the timer for 15 minutes at a time. Read for 15 minutes, then refocus, then set the timer and get back to work. this will help you maintain focus, and organize your work. You may find that working against the clock makes you more efficient.
Just tell yourself you can do anything for 15 minutes.

An easy way to to find interest in your studies and try to limit distractions. Don't take them all away, that will just cause a sense of loss and you will go back to your old habits.

Make small changes, and keep making them.

don't focs on video games more. you'll play video games when you have no necessary time to study. the reason why i don't land on honor roles nowadays is because of video games though i'm not blaming the videogames themselves LOL.
