the bears are wasting their "window of opportunity" that they have right now of winning the superbowl. lovie smith is being obstinate to the point of ruining the teams chance. he better change his allegiance before its too late !

Not a Bears fan (Go Pack) but look at it like this. Rex was basicly a rookie this year. This is the first full year he's played in. So fans should cut him some slack. You did make the superbowl. Here's an idea, since Briggs wants out so damn bad, trade him for a qb or a first round draft pick. When the Bears pick this year, Russell and Quinn will be gone, but the Heisman Trophy winner (who has apparently vanished cuz u never hear anything) Troy Smith is right there. And this is coming from a Michigan fan.

One simple question: Why would you bench the QB that got you to the Superbowl? People wanted to bench him all last year and guess what, he ended up getting to the Superbowl. I do not think they should automitcally start him but people want to throw him on the bench without giving him a shot. All Rex needs to do is become more consistent. When he was playing good he was a great QB but people only focus on the fact that he also had a number of sloppy games as well. Give him a shot next year and lets see if he can get them to teh SB again.

Jeff Garcia will not have the same success this year. Trent Green is old. David Carr has proved to be worse than Rex so far in his career. Brian Griese is not a feasable answer. The Bears best bet is to stick with Rex for the time being.

Rex will start, and he deserves to, but he will fail. Rex suffers from a lack of confidence just like Kordell Stewert did. I remember when the Steelers pushed Kordell into the QB position everyone thought he could do it all. When he failed and the fans and media turned against him, he cracked. This will happen to Rex this year. By midseason he will be out, the Bears will be flailing around like a fish out of water and the GM will be looking to unload Rex for a high draft choice in next years draft.
It will be sad to see this happen to Rex, but I guess this is part of the game. He is a good guy, but everyone expects him to be a superstar.

Grossman is your starter....you need to worry about losing your best Rb and one of the leagues better outside linebacker in Briggs sitting out the season

He will be the starter next year. You can't bench a guy that took you to the super bowl even if it was based off a great defense.

Are you kidding me?
He was one of the key players that helped Da Bears get to where they are. He isn't a phenom, but the man has got some talent... cut him some slack.

Rex Grossman is not a bad quarterback. He's just color blind. I hear that he is scheduled to have corrective surgery for it during the off season.
