As far as he was concerned, the mission was accomplished.
He (thought) he got what he wanted. He thought the whole world finally seen him as a tough guy, a real cowboy, a successful person finally. After not being able to finish his gaurd duty, and a very poor performance through out his college years, a dismall tenure as a governor (so bad they have to hide the records) he though old rummy and cheney had found the perfect paper tiger for him to beat up on and show the world he had finally succeeded at something.
Unfortunately, the troops that have given the ultimate sacrifice of their lives, had to serve under him in this war that was sold to the American public with "cooked" intel. (It's almost like college for George---all ya gotta do is cheat)
But "mission accomplished" George W Bush
I am the War president" George W Bush
I am the decider George W Bush
Long live King George ( just not here in the US )

Consider the source. Nice words, but his actions don't back them up. If the mission was accomplished, why were more troops deployed? If the mission was accomplished, why are more people dying each day?
Just what was the mission? To free a country of a dictator? To kill hundreds of thousands of innocent citizens? To secure oil fields? To bamboozle the American people? To sidestep from the real issue of Terrorism?

I think that for the most part the mission in Iraq has been accomplished. Sadam has been overthrown. However we cant just go into a country and take out its government then leave and expect them to fix it. Which is why we need to stay..and anyone with brains should realize this. Even if you dont like the war, dont make us leave early before we finish what we start. You think people hate us because of Iraq...well what do you think they would hate more. A country that "cuts" and runs, or one that finishes what it started?

An arrogant statement.
He taught Iraqi people loved to be occupied by foreign military. It would have been the first time in history of humanity.
The USA have to realize that as long as Iraq is occupied. there will be partisans (terrorists for our President) anti occupation,

I thaught that an American president and commander-in-chief of the only remaining military superpower who sees war through a Hollywood show business perspective is not such a good omen for what the world can expect for the remaining duration of his term.

i think of what had happened in the war when he said that. we had taken afghanistan and had saddam running scared. each and every war has numerous small missions inside of the one main one.we had accomplished one of the small missions in the big picture/ of course i actually pay attention to how wars are supposed to be fought.

Bush was trying to tell the American public the war in Iraq is over! Too bad he did not read the entire script form his Tom Cruise performance of Top Gun.

I understood what the mission was and I think about what our Military had done and am proud of their work. They were quick and efficient. Great job.
