The Leaning Tower Of Pisa/La Torre di Pisa.

The Leaning Tower Of Pisa is located in the city of Pisa, Italy, Europe.

Its construction began in the August of 1173 and continued (with two long interruptions) for about two hundred years.

No, it hasn't been righted. It has been stabilised.
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is leaning because the ground it sits on is too soft to support the weight of the tower.

The Tower of Pisa is the bell tower ( campanile) of the Cathedral.

Actually, it's not Piza either... It's the "Leaning Tower of Pisa"

Construction started in 1173, and no it hasn't been righted yet. It was built to be a bell tower for the cathedral in the Italian city of Pisa.

"Although intended to stand vertically, the tower began leaning to the southeast soon after the onset of construction in 1173 due to a poorly laid foundation and loose substrate that has allowed the foundation to shift." (from the Wikipedia site)

It's Pisa, not Pizza!! It was built as a bell tower and it was certainly still leaning when I went there a couple of years ago.
this is the official website.

I think they're trying to straighten it a little to make it a bit safer, but I doubt they'll ever straighten it completely, cos it's a pretty big tourist attraction - I mean, why else would you go to Pisa? (other than to try their world famous pizzas, of course!)

its still leaning but they did some work on its foundation a couple of years ago to stop it sinking any further because if it goes too far it will just fall over.
