I'm going to a banquet on Saturday and I'm wearing a pretty simple but elegant black halter dress with some red accents. I'm wearing sheer black pantyhose and black heels.

What makeup do you think would look best with this outfit?

The best answer to what makeup you should wear will always be the same.
Wear the colors that are most attractive on you. Colors that bring out your most attractive traits.
If your eyes are the most beautiful part of your face, accent the eyes with colors that will draw attention to your eyes.
The same rule applies to all parts of your face.
Go with colors that flatter you, colors that look best with your own skin, eye and hair color and not necessarily what will correspond with the colors you wear.
The outfit sounds lovely, the sleek black dress, black heels and sheer black pantyhose. All of these sound quite attractive and in good taste. It would be a pity to spoil it by using the wrong colors for you personally.
Again, I say; wear colors that flatter you and not the color of clothing you wear. That's a mistake many women make. Don't let it happen to you and spoil an otherwise overall lovely look.
Have fun... : )

With your dress being black, I would definitely use this opportunity to focus on your eyes. Is the banquet going to be in a darker atmosphere or really bright? This is important because if it is not going to be in a very lit-up room, you can go heavier on your eye-liner and lip stick. In a really lit-up room, I'd reccomend going a bit lighter. Either way, depending on your skin and eye color...If you have darker skin and eyes, I'd try to use a smoky black or dark brown eyeliner and then take a brush and smudge it a little to give it that "smokey" and blended effect and use an eyeshadow that has a bit of sparkle to it...just a little..like one of the creme shadows that add a glow. This would really play up your eyes. If you are fair-skinned, I'd go a little lighter on the liner and shadow...but still blend it so it doesn't have that definite line and just a little bit of blush...I'd stay away from bright pinks with the dark dress and go for a darker blush but just put very little on. If you decide to really play up your eyes, I wouldn't go very dark with the lipstick...I think that a light coat of a darker red...like burgandy's would go well. And if you are not comfortable with heavy make-up on your eyes, then really play up your lips...just not both at the same time...the best make-up anytime is the most natural look that is well blended and doesn't look "painted" on. Also, a good idea would be to put on a black shirt or something and practice before the day of the banquet and get some opinions from a few of your friends. Try to look at it in a place that is lit as close to the way the room that the banquet is going to be in. Hope my answer isn't too long! I love this stuff and used to be a make-up artist for a glamour company. Making sure that your entire look(from head to toe) is a "smooth" line and all blends together is what's important..just be careful not to over-do your make-up so it doesn't look "stark". Hope you have lots of fun at the banquet and good luck!

each body seems more beneficial useful with sturdy makeup, that's a actuality. i visit bypass to the shops and run errands in no makeup thankfully as I actually have sturdy epidermis, yet i imagine with the right application each body seems fantastic with makeup, particularly for nights out. make investments in small products of sturdy high quality makeup, priority being a commencing position, eyebrow pencil, powder and mascara, a small amout of blush and a impartial lip will always look organic and straightforward, i imagine that's a self assurance advance :)

It sounds very classic/contemporary. Your makeup should mirror the look. Depending on your skin tones, choose colors that enchance and balance your natural features without being over-the-top glamorous.
