I think you will have to concentrate on your sentence construction. You shouldn't have included "even though" in your question. That conjunction shows a contradiction but you are not talking in terms of contradicting the fact that South Africa is a rich country.
South Africa is rich and what is your secret???????
But i think some celebrities ain't doing those charity acts because they "care," some are about the fame and publicity. Only a little portion of the funds raised from customers by some companies get to Africa.

George Clooney went to Sudan, and Brad Pitt and angelina went to, I think, Kongo, but as you said those are pretty exceptional. Aside from well educated people, when you say Africa, they will envision children starving to death. There is no South, North, West or East of Africa but there is Africa. Like it is a country.
Those celebrities want comfort and luxury wherever they go, so they choose the wealthiest country in Africa but the public still thinks that they went to Africa, they are deprived of basic needs; I dont know but a regular non-African would imagine Angelina to have to do without toilet paper for the whole week in the desert. so nice and altruistic of them etc.
You see, they get the publicity with the minimum cost.

They actually dont... you should watch MTV.
They've held concerts in places all around Africa (that they were able to go to)...
Other African countries besides South Africa also have musicians and big artists in their countries...
Recently Missy Elliot and a few Americans were in Nigeria doing a Hip-Hop concert, backed on stage by local Nigerian Hip-Hop artists.
So dont flatter us that much, as much as we'd like to be big headed like America... (yeah right), we cant assume that we're the only nation that has the worlds attention. Some of these people either way, dont know the difference between South Africa and Nigeria (its all just Africa to them)

Where do you get that notion from? More than 20 years ago Geldoff was raising money for Ethiopia as was Bono in the years thereafter. There have been a number of celebrities taking on projects in various Countries and only in recent times do you see the likes of Oprah Winfrey get involved in schooling in South Africa. In fact it is quite the reverse to your question in that people see South Africa as Africa and refer to it as such.

How do you know that? You will almost never know if one of them goes up North? Obviously our journalists in South Africa will cover the story if they are here, and do you buy a newspaper from Kenya, I don't think so, so you will never ever know if someone is in Kenya or which ever country I might add!

I think you answered your own question, Dude. How many African countries have the facilities to cater to the needs of billionaire international movie stars?

Africa is irrelevant to all civilized people.
No one could be bothered with the toilet of corruption, nepotism, violence, genocide and stupidity that defines Africans.
The West only pays some attention to South Africa as they believe it is a beacon of hope, they are too ignorant to see how SA has become just another African dictatorship on the way to becoming yet another "begging bowl" state.

its because they want to associate with Nelson Mandela - mostly.
also, of course, there is amazing hideaway accommodation available in SA - although I do acknowledge that that can also be found in other African countries as well.
