Yes. We in India teach honesty at home, mostly by Mother or Grand Mother by way of stories. When they show dishonesty, we punish them. Level of punishment depends on childs age. Up to two years no punishment. 2-5 only verbal warnings. 5-8 bit harsh verbal, with a cane on hand. 10 and above teacher will take care at School, and normally Mother at home. Parent & child bonding will become strong, when reaction is strong when dishonesty is observed, similarly prising when honest.

The dishonesty in children develops from the family environment, parent control/tendency,friends and non satisfaction of needs. In general, mother is supposed to be the first teacher of the child and she is held first person responsible for honesty/dishonesty. To react to a child's dishonesty in front of parents is like showing a mirror to an ugly girl/woman.

i have no children but try to answer ur question bcz we to came from that childhood.
reaction of the parent should be according to the age of the child.
but it needs serious attention , as the child grows he will be a theft to the society if properly not brought up.

Nope but I don't deal with children with where I work and there are few children in my family.
