Human life is worth more than an animal's life to humans.
I am sure the animals's life is worth more than a human's life to animals.
If you want to feel sorry for yourself about killing other life forms. think about all the animals and plants your kill just to survive. think about the bacteria you kill so you can stay healthy.
On the opposite side of the argument, check out the hindu religion that worships cows, and in the past cows are actually worth more than people, because they provided milk for food, dung for fuel, for a whole family over many years, that many would have sacrificed a son or a daughter for. (incidentally the english word daughter comes from the root hindu word for milk maid dudh=milk)

Worth of a life cannot be compared between humans and animals. Their lives are as much precious as ours, but if you go on to see why kill a chicken, although it is equal to murder, I believe that you are not looking at the ''food chain'' here. Wouldnt that be effected if we distinguish on what is moral and immoral ? That way plants have life too, so can that be considered immoral simply because they dont speak, they dont have ears, eyes, or they dont move like an animal or a human ?
Its all justified. The food chain is what we are talking about if we talk about chicken, lamb..whatever, and murder of a human is considered a crime, not immoral. Simply because we have a brain to think, and we are much more advanced than the animals around us. It is not the act of murder, but murdering a human, that is murdering oneof our own kind for selfish reasons, vendetta, jealousy, power and just about any negative emotion that is involved in murdering a human, qualifies that act (murder) as a crime, and perhaps immoral.

I think that both are equal.Because in the early stages of civilization, humans used animals as a form of machine.Like the buffalo, it was use in farms as a tool.
It was humans who created the technology now .But if it wasn't for the animals who provided the help,Would there still be technology now ?Humans and animals all have a right to live. They are both created to have a family and to carry on the breeding of their species. If u kill an animal , u are no different from a murderer, because we both deserve a chance to live!

It isn't worth more or less then any other organism on the planet. It is just more complex. Worth is derived from power, humans instinctive attempt for power makes them believe they are more significant then other creatures.
Why it is more immoral to kill a human than a less intelligent specie is because of our instinctive bond to our own, our society as a structure, and our projection of worth due to our concept of power.

Because they (animals) taste so much better than a human (I've been told), we don't consider them as worth much except when they are cooked with the right sauces and spices and placed before us to chow down on.
However, there are quite a few humans and I would consider worth far less than the dogs I have that bring joy and companionship to my life. I would guess that if we value those animals and humans that we have relationships with or empathy for above those that we don't.

Humans are animals too. It is not good to kill one of your own species. Killing is part of nature. We need meat. Vegetarian diets are incomplete in many nutrients according to the real experts in such matters. PeTA has a bent doctor who ignores that and tells everyone to eat only veggies. He should be executed for such irresponsible crap. If you take antibiotics, you are killing some organisms before they kill you. A human is the most precious of all animals. It is foolish to say dumb chickens are as good as humans.

Humans can contribute to the direction in which the world goes by being able to think, reason and make decisions, inventing things to make the world better, etc. Animals just exist for the main part and were mainly intended to be food for humans.

Your question should really be, why should there be more worth to anything living than another?
An animal has just as much rights to live as humans and visa versa.

Some people can do better, can change our life for good. Some people save lives, invent harmless stuff. Most of them do not, but the hope stay still for we own a mind (-) and a hart (++++).

"Survival of the fittest"
Stop talking about morality. It's quite impractical in "some" cases.
