Jordan is also credited for starting the long shorts craze (they weren't as long as they are today) and wildly colored sneakers. He is the ultimate superstar who trancends the game of basketball. People who don't know an ounce of basketball knows the name Michael Jordan. That's what most professional athletes strive for in their public image. Very few in the history of US sports have achieved this. (Only Mohamed Ali comes to mind). That is the long lasting influence that MJ will have on basketball, sports, and history.
