While it may display the hands and other features nicely, the only reason that watch advertisements always feature the watches with a 10:10 time is that the BRAND NAME is almost always below the hands and just above the 6. It allows the brand name and logo to be viewed without the hands blocking part of it.

Even when the watch does not have a visible brand name or logo, tradition holds that the hands are still at the 10:10 time.

because it shows the hands and face well. The position of the hands at 10:10 allow the whole watch face to be displayed (Time and dates are usually at the bottom or the right side)
