Not always. Emotions are neither good nor bad -- the question of negative or positive is predicated upon how we handle the emotions and what we do because of them.

Hate, I suppose, is the opposite of love. Is cold negative compared to hot or vise versa? Hate is an extreme. Like happy or sad. Thruth be told most of us live somewhere betwen the two most of the time. I hate yams! I hate it when the lights go out in the middle of the night and I am late for work because my alarm doesn't go off as anticipate.I hate it when I leave my car window down and an unexpected shower means I drive home with a wet bottom. I feel hatred when I hear of someone being abused and then killed, knowing that they lived their last few hours or moments in fear and pain. I think it is natural to hate certain things. I think becomes a negative when it is directed towards another person. We move into a dangerous aspect of our humanity when we hate other people. The emotion places us in a position of weakness related to the person we hate. It is like they win.As a person of faith, I think we have to depend on a being greater than ourselves to keep us from the extreme of hate. I don't think we can love everybody even though that was our great commandment. But I think we need to end our emotion, somewhere short of hate. When we hate people, we invite negativity, evil if you will, into our hearts and lives and that is a very unhealthy thing to do. SO, hate can be a negative, depending on what is hated and why.

Interesting question. Yes hate is a negative emotion, and does more emotional damage to the hater than the hated.
For some people though to be hated is a victory, because at least they are being thought about and is what they are after.
However emotions cannot be turned on and off like a switch, you may want to 'move on' but that does not mean it is easy. People may understand the damage that hatred is doing to them but are unable to stop hating such is the contempt they have for a person or a concept.
If the forces of hatred are channelled into positive things then it can become a force for good. For example William Wilberforce hated slavery, and channelled his hatred for it into a campaign to make it illegal.
In this case hatred was a force for good

I hate paedophiles and thats a positive thing! I hate cruelty to animals and thats a positive things. I hate watching children starving to death in third world countries, but even though it is obviously a negative things it can create a positive outcome, such as bringing people together to make a difference.
The feelings it brings about within me is a negative thing. The way I react to these feelings can be either positive or negative. Everything has positive and negative, it just depends on context and outcome.

I think hate is a very strong word, and that you must really despise something to be able to say it!! Me for instance, there are things I dislike, but I can honestly say that I don't hate anything!!
Saying that, maybe hate is a positive thing because not everything in the world can be nice and liked, it woud disrupt the balance and just be plain boring!!

Yes I think hate is a negative thing. Hatred is a negative, dark feeling that can affect your whole life if you allow it to. I think people use the word "hate" too lightly. They say there is a fine line between love and hate. I think that's because they are the 2 strongest human emotions. Hatred is ugly and leads to negative consequences wherever it shows itself.

It depends on what you hate and what you focus that on.
Hating your fellow man for who and what they may be is negative and wrong.
Say you are in a work environment and you hate inefficiency, laziness, and waste. Hating something like that can spur you on to do positive things. You don't actually personally hate the people who contribute to them however. They are merely misguided individuals who need to be enlightened. You can hate the behavior without actually hating the person.

What drives you to hate is negative .
Hating something is a matter of personal choice .
Hating some body , I have only ever hated two people and I don't regret that hatred .
sometimes it is the only form of closure

of course hate is considered a negative thing. it is the opposite of love. Hate is a more intense dislike of something. For if you hate you can lose a part of yourself despising something else.
