Hi everyone!
I am going to be a bridesmaid in July and I don't know if I should wear contacts for this. I've been told that lots of photographers ask you to remove your glasses for photos!
I wear glasses every day, and to be honest I quite like wearing them! I used to feel geeky in them, but I've got a cool designer pair now and get a strange amount of compliments about them! But I always wonder if they are just being polite, and whether no glasses is more attractive!
My boyfriend thinks I should wear them for the wedding, as he said I look scarily young without them! (I'm 22; he's 36... lol!) He said I look more striking with them and doesn't think I need to get contacts. However, there IS a part of me that worries about looking geeky with them!
If it helps, the dress is floor length and dark red; I have jaw length brown hair and my glasses are a high-shine, dark gunmetal colour with quite thick rectangular frames - not exactly delicate or unnoticable!
:-) xx Emmie

P.S. - I don't want to come accross as a completely vain b*tch! This IS the bride's day.... but come on! What bridesmaid isn't secretly hoping she'll look at least half decent?! ;-)

I wear glasses and contact lenses depending on the occasion. If I were you I would wear contacts for the day if you can. The glasses will make a bit of glare on the photos, this won't mess up the photos but you mignt not see your eyes.
Your friend has asked you be be part of her day and will want to see you in the photos not your glasses shine. How about wearing contacts for the ceremony and official photos but putting your glasses on after at the reception where you can relax and be yourself?

Hey Emmie (that is a v.funky name by the way) well, I think it's up to you. If you like your glasses and want to wear them, on you go.
Photographers don't ask you to take the glasses off because they don't like them, it's because the flash reflects off the lenses and makes your face look scarily blank! However, although you will have to take them off for indoor shots that need a flash, for outdoor pictures you'll be able to keep the on, and a good enough photographer should be able to get some indoor shots too.
It's entirely up to you, if you want to wear them and you feel they go okay with your dress, then feel free! If it helps, I wore my glasses to my 6th year prom "a while" ago, with a big fancy dress, and everyone though I looked great!

If you're more comfortable wearing the glasses, then wear them at the wedding. You can take them off for the photographer and then just put them back on.
If you're really feeling self conscious about the whole thing then get contacts, but personally I would say stick to what's more comfortable.

Wear them by all means - they sound nice! However the photographer may ask you to remove them as he may get a slight glare from them, you can always put them back on afterwards! The bride has to keep the photos forever and she may not want light flashing off of your rims!

I think contact lenses should be better! Your glasses seem to be a little too hard. Really are you going to marry in red? What a courage! If here in Italy someone should decide the same thing, the priest could even decide to refuse celebrating the marriage!
Good luck!

Well, since it seems that your glasses are rather prominent, I'd check w/the bride to see what her thoughts are. They're usually pretty specific about how their bridesmaids should dress.

Be yourself. If you wear glasses then thats fine. You look decent enough to bag one of us blokes... so you cant be a total moose! Dont let the fact you wear glasses put you off. If a photographer aasks you to take the off, ask him to take off his trousers..... to help you relax! that should shut him up! Tell him to s*d off!
You go for it, glasses are for a reason, be brave, show your beautiful face and wear those glasses.
