I'm not sure I follow your question. Bananas, apples, vegetables, etc are sold by the pound not by the count.

And counting is counting -- you learn it in Kindergarten and it doesn't change as you grow older.

Perhaps you are asking how to know when you have picked up a pound or a kilo of apples when they are not pre-bagged. Unless the supermarket has a scale for you to check, you can only do this by estimation. You need to do a lot of shopping and improve your judgement. As with everything, it is practise, practise, practise. Three average bananas or four small ones are usually around a pound in weight.

Well you buy 7 bananas, that is seven, then you buy 12 apples, you could even say a "dozen" and then buy "some"vegetables, and you get to pick how many! lucky you!

well, you can count using your eyes and your brain. If eyes are not there, and brain is there, then you can use your fingers, or toes. If fingers and toes are not there, and brain is there, then you can ask someone to count the objects for you. If everything is there, and brain is not there, then I am afraid, there is no answer.. Go to the shop and ask for just 1 brain for replacement..
