Dont know who to complain to, but will be watching as i will be complaining too. I saw a documentary once where the killers hit the seal cubs and left them breathing noisily, obviously not dead, so how they say the cubs do not 'suffer' i dont know. Seals have feelings of pain and know fear..... nasty buisness.

Well
You should try with Penny Stocks Trading (you can find more info here: http://pennystocks.toptips.org )

Penny stocks, also known as cent stocks in some countries, are common shares of small public companies that trade at low prices per share.
I've been subscribing to this PennyStock web site for about a year now and have loved the objective advice they give. He really does look for quality stocks and I've made some pretty nice profits on a lot of his suggestions. Being still fairly new to investing I have been dabbling a lot in penny stocks to try and grow my account. I may not have a big account, but it's a lot bigger than it was a year ago. On just one of Nathan's picks this year I managed to make my investment back ten-fold! Be careful! Penny stocks are notoriously risky but if you follow the right method the risk is almost 0. I suggest to invest only little money first and then reinvest the profits. This is the site I'm using: http://pennystocks.toptips.org

It's sick and evil.

There has been a seal cull for years as the greedy fishermen claim it's needed to stop seals depleting fish stocks. In other words they want all the fish themselves.

The seals used to have a natural population control called the polar bear but these have decreased greatly in numbers from what there used to be because of over hunting in the past.

Even without the bears though a cull is not needed. The seal population will regulate itself as those seals unable to find enough food will die. That is how nature works. Also if climate change does not get too bad eventually the natural controllers, the bears, numbers will return to what they were now they are no longer hunted much.

However the cull used to be smaller scale as no-one wanted to buy the furs from baby seals and there was a limit as to how much time the fishermen were willing to spend doing something which gave no direct profit.

The cull has increased massively in recent years because the demand for seal pelts has increased a lot-mainly in the far east but some western fashion designers have started using them too.

The only way to stop it will be to get people to stop using the furs AND get the Canadian fishermen to be less greedy.

For ideas on how to do this visit PETA's website.

You have stirred up some very different opinions and answers here. They all have their points. 1. The seals must be culled. 2. Is there a better way? 3. There is obviously like-minded people on this Peta site where you can add your voice to the protest and although you cannot stop the culling (this is a necessity for the seals as well as the fishermen) you may be able to force the government to find a more humane way to do a very distasteful job. 4. This is one issue that you have witnessed and so feel very strongly about. However there are inhumane practices carried out every day and not only on animals. 5. At least you are willing to do something, everyone has their pet hates regarding treatment of animals and humans but few do anything about it. Good luck

provided that a infant seal is used because of the fact the ball. The harvesting of infant seals isn't a interest, quite not a Canadian interest. The indigenous peoples of the Arctic(extra often than not Inuit) have taken in basic terms what they like for hundreds of years.Others did decimate the inhabitants interior the previous till now conservation and elementary experience. The Inuits are transforming into much less based on seals or plenty else from their land.they have cable, alcohol, drugs, welfare,McDonalds and regulations on the way they used to outlive.

Of course not. No more than the chinese have the right to skin animals alive.

Sadly, it all comes down to money. If the seals are being culled, more humane ways cost money. If the seals are being killed for fur, the people who buy the pelts drive the industry.

Barbaric.

It appears that you have made your mind up that it is wrong, as you never intend to visit Canada again.

It is not clear whether your objection is to the killing of seals or the method of killing.

With regard to the killling, my understanding is that seal culls are carried out under strict regulation to keep the seal population down to manageable numbers. If the population grew unchecked, seals would starve to death.

As to the method, the aim is to kill quickly, rather than maim. A well-placed blow to the head of a young animal ensures a quick death. A humane killer (or bolt gun) used in an abbatoir operates on the same principle. The seal could be shot at close range, but the sound would carry a long way and create fear and confusion for other creatures. If those who cull seals are maiming rather than killing outright, then they should be reported to the appropriate authorities.

Since not many things come from Canada, that won’t be too hard. I suggest you also stop buying Chinese goods for their abominable treatment of dogs and cats. They eat them, and also skin them alive for their fur.

In most parts of the world, including America, people are allowed to shoot animals with arrows, causing them to slowly bleed to death if not hit in the right place. All nations involved in fishing allow the fish to slowly suffocate or freeze them alive. So you probably shouldn’t buy any American goods either, and stay away from any fish or stores that carry them. Dozens of nations take part in shark-finning as well, the practice of catching sharks, slicing off their fins while they are still alive, and throwing them back into the ocean to drown.

Sure, sharks and game animals aren't as cute as baby seals, but are they any less deserving of humane treatment?

Since every nation on earth allows some kind of unspeakable animal cruelty, I think your only option might be to move to a hut in the woods and live off the land.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, why pick this to protest? This is hardly the worst thing people do to animals, right? Seems a bit silly. Your house is probably full of things from a country that skins animals alive, and your own city is probably full of restaurants that boil lobsters alive and animal shelters that put-down hundreds of animals a year. Instead of coming online and complaining about baby seals you will never be able to save, lobby your city council to open a no-kill shelter. Make an actual difference in an animal’s life. It'll take more than good intentions and a letter, but if you're really serious about this, then go out there and do something.

Don't blame all Canadians. It's just the sick-o seal hunters. Who you should really blame are the Chinese; after years of almost no demand world-wide for baby seal skin, the newly wealthy Chinese have decided it is a nice status symbol, and are willing to pay big time for it. It's all supply and demand. The Chinese are directly and indirectly responsible for the near extinction of many species b/c of their beliefs in the mystical/medical properties of many animals (which have no basis in science)

it's not only canadians for starters. there are many groups who participate in this. i personally think it is barbaric. it is a part of certain people's heritage though and things like that don't change easily. there are actually times of the year that people can pay to participate in the seal hunts and it can bring large groups of tourists.

Have you been down to your local slaugther house and seen how they slaugther the baby sheep (lambs) with their large, soft pleading eyes? First they clamp their head in a pair of tong-like vice which have sharp edges to give good electrical contact. Then they pass 1000's of volts of electricity into their brains. They are hung upside down and their throats slit... I could go on.
The Inuits (Eskimos) has traditionally hunted seals by spearing them and stunning them with a blow to the head, and the latter-day seal hunters are doing the same thing. Why pick on the Canadians? Picket your local abbatoir or fishing club (for clubbing the fish on the head).
