Just returned from 2 weeks in Tokyo and loved it. One of my favourite things was the Karaoke bars on every corner and the friendliness of the people?

What did/do you liek about Tokyo or Japan?

I LOVE TOKYO!!! I don't think there is just one favorite thing I have about Tokyo. I loved traveling on the subway. It was really easy to get around Tokyo, and quickly. I also liked the convenience stores. Family Mart was my favorite. Whenever I needed to pick up a snack or something, I knew I could get it there. HARAJUKU!!! I love it there! Especially on Sundays when the people dress up. Shibuya was a lot of fun too. Ever try Mamido's Burger? That was a cute idea, and a great dessert. Asakusa was nice for the more traditional side of Japan. Overall I loved my trip to Tokyo, and can't wait to go again.

I hate to be a killjoy, but my favorite thing about Tokyo is that I don't live there. I am just a lowly American country boy, and the pace of life in Tokyo is just too fast for me. I visited there once and I just about got killed just trying to cross the street. But actually there is something I do like, and that is the fact that everything an American would want from America is readily available. I live down in Kagoshima and things are hard to get and end up being more expensive.

But I would love to live in Tokyo for their TACO BELL!!!!

As echoed by others, I loved Japan for the friendliness of the people, delicious food (amazing sushi/sashimi---go Tsukiji fish markets or just regular izakayas), scenery, shinkansen--efficiency of transportation there rocks (I was there for 10 days traversing as far north to Morioka to as far south as Hiroshima during the holidays), the holiday cakes and holiday lights in Japan (were beautiful especially Kobe, Tokyo---Roppongi Hills, Osaka etc), Himeji Palace, Yokohama---Chinatown list coud go on. I did get to karaoke and that was tons of fun! I met many cool people and practiced my college learned Japanese which was very helpful.

Definitely my favorite thing about Tokyo...the people. My neighbors are fantastic (we live in a Western house plonked down on an otherwise all Japanese block). They go all out to make us feel part of the block and include us in all celebrations at our local shrine (we live 30 seconds walk from the Meiji Jingu shrine).

Another thing that will make me sad to move on from Tokyo - the service! From the convenience store clerk to the FedEx guy to the waiters...people take pride in what they do and they strive to make it perfect for you. All without expecting a tip - LOL.

The safety of Tokyo is so reassuring - I can walk on any street at any hour and feel safe.

I could go on and on...
