Much of maturity is about making responsible personal decisions, and being personally responsible for the decisions you make.
Maturity is not constrictive, it is freedom. Freedom to make your own choices, and live with the results of those choices.

A very funny and useful book is Ben Stein's "How to ruin your life", which gives very sound advice...for example, "Don't develop any useful skills" and "don't learn any self discipline" and "convince yourself that you are the center of the universe".
It's a short book, but it says a lot.

Another very good book is M. Scott Peck's "A Road Less Traveled", which is mostly about solving problems, which is what life presents us with constantly. How we choose to resolve those problems is a measure of our real maturity.

Do not be in a hurry to maturity. It comes as you grow older. You have to enjoy every step of the way because each only comes ones in your lifetime, before you know it you are already matured and those remains only as memories. So cherish the youth that you have today and every phase thereafter!

maturity comes with morals, just because you are an adult and have the physical maturity doesn't make you mature. It is when you make right ethical decisions in your life and become responsible for your actions.

Many old people are still childish.

Maturation is not just gaining knowledg and wisdom, but assimilating it and using it.

One must put away their childish things. To be a child is to be selfish. We put ourselves first.

To be an adult is to be selfless; we put our family first, our careers, our clients, our community.

The cynics say there is no differeance between selfless and selfish, because the selfless does it for self gratification just as the selfish one does. The gratification is the same.

The differnce is in the results. The selfless usually benefits the community more then the selfish.

Ask not what my community can do for me, but what can I do for my community.
