Because when the cartoon characters agree to work for the studio, they are required to curt off their little fingers to show their loyalty, the way Japanese gangsters do.

best answered by Mr. walt disney. he said that in mickey mouses early days he tried to draw him with 5 fingers but the hands looked out of proportion to the body.
go ahead try drawing any disney, looney tune, or even a simpsons character and give them 5 fingers. i garantee you will see what walt disney ment.
im sure 5 fingers work with aneme but with silly toons.... no way.

but if atall they have 4 i think because they are meant to have 4 or 3 or may be 2, according to the creator's whim and not 5 like humans!!!

thats only in silly american toons, not anime. probably cause its much cheaper and faster to make that way
