The Human Genome Project (HGP) is a project to de-code (i.e. sequence) more than 3 billion nucleotides contained in a haploid reference human genome and to identify all the genes present in it.

it is a project that endeavours to discover the origin of modern man, by examining the dna of as many people as possible lines of descendants can be formed which i believ look they all lead back to the same place and perhaps a single person! pretty amazing stuff !
