Have agree Ray Carruth by far the most tragic, he killed his pregnant girlfriend who was found in teh trunk of his car, trgic and gruesome.
Randy Johnson when he killed the dove with a fastball, it was an accident but it was sad to watch the poor bird splatter in dust.

Bertuzzi slamming Moore to the ice from behind and riding him down, causing whiplash and although Moore has made a decent recovery he still hasn't been able to play hockey. That was an ATHLETE. That was even done IN COMPETITION, and to me that is what should be gone on. To say OJ is wrong. He wasn't an athlete anymore, and hadn't been for YEARS. Heck if you want to claim that how about the former Steelers Lineman who recently basically lost his mind and killed himself, and almost killed others. It is believed that he was undiagnosed as Bi-Polar, and that was a FAMILY FRIEND who was a Doctor, that gave the opinion. He simply couldn't get the man to go in and get looked at to be diagnosed. Strylzick I think was the name.
Addition
I don't think Curruth killed them actually, if I remember correctly he hired someone to do it. Not much better though. Although at least he was PLAYING. What about Clarret while we are at it? What a loser in general, ever since his freshman year at OSU he became total trouble, and was actually on a Independent Arena Football League team's roster on that last arrest. That brought the all time classic quote from the owner or coach or whatever of the team. "We aren't even sure it was his car." What if he had a STOLEN car full of loaded guns and he was wearing a bullet-proof vest that would have been BETTER?

O.J. Simpson should win with his double homicide,,
However here is a fun bit of trivia Fidel Castro was a star pitcher at Belen College and the University of Havana in Cuba and attracted the attention of several ML scouts with his wicked curveball. He turned down a $5,000 bonus from the Giants to pursue his law degree, and after graduating became a leader of Cuba's revolutionary movement.
Setting up a communist country and having the deaths of thousands of people through executions and evacuations to the U.S. has got to be pretty bad.

As far as tragic in the course of the game, Kermit Washington's punch to Rudy Tomjanovich was pretty gruesome. Almost killed Rudy, and Kermit has never gotten out from under the stigma, although he and Rudy are friends now.

Len Bias died of a cocaine overdose just after being selected by the Celtics in the NBA draft. The kid was a great ball player and would have been a star. Unfortunately, he made a bad decision and paid for it with his life.

Going out and doing a majority of those issues which you have suggested is tragic. possibly stems from the two a super ego, or perhaps thoughts of inadequacy. i do no longer unavoidably agree which ability they're taking abilities with no attention.

The one NFL player that got convicted of manslaughter, Brian Blades(Seattle Seahawks-WR late 80s, early 90s). I'm not sure of the details, but he had a dispute with his cousin, and ended up shooting him. He died later. Blades was aquitted on a technicallity.

OJ Simpson. 'Nuff said.
Also, Bill Romanowski took a cheap shot at a teammate during practice, which dislocated the guy's entire FACE, and caused him to retire early. That ws f*cked up.
