Imagine you are the only person around no one is watching and do what you must do. Shyness is a feeling that everybody is watching but in actual sense it is you who is watching them. Think about.......plan for the worst but hope for the best. if u must psyche yourself and believe you are not shy and u can do it.

I have always been very shy. But I also am very confident. I've spent alot of time building muscle and playing the piano. These two things have helped me develop alot of confidence. I get many compliments too. I would suggest, since you're shy, find some type of hobby that you can get consumed with. Just have a passion for something. Go to the library and read about stuff that interests you. It'll help develop your mind and your confidence. I have heard that acting is good. For example, pretend that you are an outgoing person. Imitate the actions of an outgoing person if you want to be outgoing. I am 35 years old. Most people know me as very quiet. I've grown accustomed to it.

I'm an introvert with social anxiety and panic attacks and have been working on being "less shy" for at least a decade. And after medications and therapy sessions ad nauseum I only experienced progress once I realized that I'm just an introverted person, and have to work with that fact not against it.

you can't it's apart of who your but you can be more confident which will make you less shy, some people like being the center of attention others prefer being on the sidelines and there is nothing wrong with that :) when you enter a room look everyone on the eye don't sit in a corner and smile :)
good luck

Take small steps. Say hi to people. Then start a conversation if they seem interested.

I more or less agree with Alvaro. Develop your inner confidence first, and this will eventually show in your outward nature.
