I tried to sleep but I have a nerve pain extending from my lower back all down the backside of my thighs, legs, and around my ankles...it's the worst feeling in the world. I know its not a muscle pain because I haven't been working out. It's a nerve pain. I have been sleeping for longer than usual lately...and have had a pretty lethargic schedual this week...not much moving around. I just know that I can't go back to sleep because the pain is SO sharp!! What could this be?

From your description it sounds like the sciatic nerve is causing the pain. I recommend you see a chiropractor as soon as possible. They are excellent at working on these conditions. I've enclosed a link where you can find a chiropractor in your area in the USA.

I have Crohn's disease which has similar symtoms to those you have described. It sounds bad, but really you can learn to live with it. I started to get sypmtoms aged 20, but I knew what it was as both of my sisters have it. I would try to avoid stoids if prescribed, as they too can also have some dodgy side effects. Until something is diagnosed you could try a low residue diet. It is a bit bland and tasetless, but seems to help with the loose bowel movements. if you want more help/info, message me. PS Don't worry - it might just be Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which is very common and can be treated with anti inflammatories and/or anti-diaorreah tablets.

It sounds like sciatica. Try a Chiropractor. There is a good one in Cyprus Road in Finchley.

hey..it sounds like sciatica, caused by compression of the sciatic nerve, which gives sensory supply to your legs. You should get it checked, depending on what the cause is, they might give you a physiotherapy course, or do surgical decompression of the nerve.
