why is it that the council never gets things done properly the first time round? plus they never seem to listen what the community REALLY needs? do we as members of the public have a proper say anymore and can we SACK them?

IF YOU want to change things then get yourself on to your local council, by either forcing a vote or by co-opting
I did and have stirred up a few hornets nests.

Councils have no organisation, they are a drain on government money because of the complete and utter lack of organisation, the right hand never talks to the left hand, it's a shambles, and to make it worse and even more frustrating they NEVER apologise for their mistakes or even own up to them!
I have had nothing but problems with my council since I moved here over 10 years ago. They have cost me money through there incompetent staff, telling you one thing, when it is wrong and strangely enough, when you tell them it was because of what THEIR staff told you to do in the first place, that you got it wrong, you still have to pay the costs.
Toss**s, the lot of 'em.
And yes I do have issues with the council!

Parish councilors don`t get paid for the work they do they do it for the benifit of their community, having said that,all the hard work done by them often at the reqeusts of local people seems to count for nothing if it doesn`t fall inline with the county councils plans. they override about 80% of locals requests that have passed through parish level. It can be very frustating and the parishoners because they have dealt with parish think it our fault. We feel like a buffer between county and public and we don`t get paid.

All councils are filled with the most corrupt people on the planet. The only times they will assist is if it lines their pockets or it is nearing an election. You should try telling them you are an illegal immigrant and then see how quicly they get their asses into gear.
