Broadband from your phone company can be connected at any jack...but the closer to the main box you are, the better your signal could be.

you can use a extension then put filter in it it works fine i had a lot of hassle and was told to put right in wall but it was the broadband that was down as you only get a small bit of cable and mind is in hall so its ok with extension

DSL needs to be plugged into any phone receptacle in your house, doesnt need to be the main box.....
Cable no. Cable uses a splitter and borrows the same cable used to watch tv.....

No, it can be connected to any phone socket.

You just need to remember to us the micro-filters in ALL sockets that use a phone else it will interfere with your connection.
