....that murderers who place no value on the lives of others, place so much value on theirs, to the point that they will fight tooth and nail to overturn a death penalty and settle instead for life in prison..... is it because they have no conscience?

I couldn't agree with you more. It really makes me sick when you see this happening, and more sickening are those who will stand outside and protest about the 'evils' of the death penalty. Would they care so much about the victims? I don't think so.
Same goes for these sick depraved pedophiles, who get a slap on the wrist from some far left liberal judge because they would have a DIFFICULT time in prison because they are SHORT, hmmm, bet that guys little victim who he had abused for a few years was pretty short too, since she was only 7. (That is just one example of a case recently where there was basically a non-sentence) I find all of this strange and really disturbing.

Well that is most of the problem today, felons out
there have no respect for human life, they keep
crying about how this is wrong POLICE BRUTALITY, etc.etc. But, so many policeofficers
fall victim to criminals as well and does anyone
really talk about that.........it sickens me that they
do not have the death penalty everywhere...............

If you kill do you have a right to decide what sentence the courts should give you I THINK
NOT....the worse the crime, the more stringent
the sentence should be, so many people who
kill use the Psych defence, this is not on, because
they need to understand that if you take a life
yours can be taken....................................................

If you kill, you have no right to decide what kind
of sentencing, you have a right to, to hell with
violent prisoners rights..............................................

They need to get a max sentence or the death
penalty, extenuating circumstances are just a
lame excuse, unless it is self defence, but that
is a different question altogether..............................

You can blame those that are always calling for the banishment of the death penalty for that. In Illinois, Richard Speck murdered some nurses. The State of Illinois gave him a sex change, private suite and all the drugs he could snort....all at taxpayers expense!

Some of those same lawmakers would rather stop and severely punish smokers and take away your right, as a law abiding citizen, to own a firearm, to protect yourself, your family and property in Illinois, especially Chicago. Gee thanks. That really is an imbalance of power! Now, that's what I call strange.

excluding serial killers, maybe killing was for survival in their own minds.
and maybe some of those on death row were not guilty.
But yes I find it strange too.
