I was told the switch would cost $5 /each and replace $25/each - the switch tells you if the door is closed or not

You really need to be much more specific. Are you asking about the master rocker switch on the dash for the power sliding doors, or for the switches on the doors and door jambs that control the sliding door operation? Or, are you asking about the dome light switch that the doors close against that turns on the interior lights?

If you're asking about the contact plates and switches on the each of the power sliding doors, take it to a Honda dealer. They have updated switch and contact plates for the older Odysseys and they take about 3 hours for someone who knows what they are doing to replace the switches on both doors. They are not a do-it-yourself job.

The instrument panel switch on the left side of the dash should be a relatively simple pop-out.

the door jamb switch is usually unscrewed using a 10mm wrench or similar

hope that helps

Or oftentimes there's oil and grime beneath the rubber of the keyless faraway stopping a well connection to the published circuit board. Have a respectable appear at it? Or take to an automobile ingredients retailer and ask for aid.
