How accurate are these web astrologers? My girlfriend has subscribed to a few but its so strange each one has something different to say. are they just a bunch of crackpots or are they accuarate?

Of course they are crackpots!
How can planets that are millions of miles away have any influence on your life? Horoscopes are fun to read at times, but don't take them seriously.
That said... I do howl at the full moon.

No - I think they can be extremely accurate - unnervingly so sometimes - but you are correct, some of them are way off the mark.
What annoys me, is that if you ask a couple what they're starsigns are or even just a man what his is, then somehow that is deemed to being effeminate or even homosexual, which I feel is wrong and very narrow-minded; so I find it refreshing that you've had the courage to even ask the question in the first place, or maybe you wern't aware of this perception?

It's a science of combinations, permutations and combinations running into hundreds! It would indeed take a very painstaking effort to get a very accurate reading! Once all combinations are accounted for properly, then astrological observations are valid!

One of my classmates actually did a science project on this and found that they're only as accurate as you care to make them. If you believe that the stars control your destiny, then they will...if you believe it's under your control, then the horoscope is baloney. It varies from person to person.

Ask for evidence that can be tested. It is always better to know rather blindly "believe".
