To get what you want out of them. For example, lets say that you are a sales person and you are trying to sell something to someone with a huge ego, but for some reason they are not buying and they give you some bull.... excuses. What do you do? You boost their ego even more to get the sale.
You can boost someones ego to get what you want, this should be the idea.

Every now and then, it's a kind thing to do. Sometimes the people who seem to have the biggest egos are actually the most insecure.
In certain circumstances, that little ego boost you give them, though it doesn't cost you a thing, can mean the world to them --- deep down underneath that fake ego.

Flattery gets you everywhere--it is the ultimate manipulation. people that have huge egos never know when they are being manipulated. And sometimes you can't get what you deserve without a little polishing of the apple.

Cuz it was hungry! Seriously, if they had low self esteem you feed their ego and tell them all of their best qualities. Everyone has an ego, not just egotists!

I often compliment women cos i know how much they love it. Buttering people up in general is ok cos they like u for it cos u make them feel good in theirselves.

for me if someone is depressed and down making a person feel good about themselves or even a small compliment may be all they need
