Not all salespeople have big egos, any more than all black people are good singers. Let's not generalize.

Sales is a very competitive field and the people who enter it often learn to measure their own and others' performance by external validation -who got the biggest commission payment, who drives the most expensive car, and so on. In sales, everything is measured by whose numbers are the best.

There are different methods of selling just as there are different types of people in the world. Strategic selling is a more relationship-drivern, partnership approach than selling cars, for example. If your work environment bothers you, find a new one where your co-workers aren't so obnoxious.

Sales is the most difficult Job and the most rewarding! A salesperson wakes up everyday and knows that his abilities will make him a check or he will starve.....he/she does not need the false security of a company base salary that usually leads to kicking you on your rear while you were expecting retirement they downsized and you got axed. A saleperson uses abilities to know what makes people buy and this is a skilled art that most people are envious of. Do you know that the salesman who makes the most money usually have customers that love them the most and are most loyal? Think about that....they made more money off these people and these are the people with less gripes and dissatisfaction. That is because the salesperson tailored his sales presentation to the needs of that unique person....and sold him or herself. The customer felt comfortable with their investment with that person. This is an art that should be appreciated not hated or ridiculed. Someone has to sale a car it cant really sell itself, you want to make an educated decision and you want someone to explain to you the features as well as the benefits in a language you understand...you dont want a computer or a robot to do that for you most of the time. We all can learn from a good salesman whether it be a well written sales page or the person who greets you at the mall retail store.....dont feel pressure the salesperson is there to help and assist you to make a good buying decision. We are all human....the ego is just a shield for keeping our sensitive side in check so you dont take it personal when someone objects or thinks they dont like you without even trying to get to know you. We all have a favorite salesperson and its ok for that person to be salesperson of the month because they helped us and made us feel good about our investment.

egotistic, not egonostic. I never had this problem. Never dealt with the 'used car salesman' problem. The guy I bought my last car from cleaned it up, knocked off nearly $300, did a thorough background check and filled the gas tank. He was nice and guaranteed if there were any problems, they could do a trade and offer a fair deal on another.

I find that because of high staff turnover, poor training techniques, low wages and the wrong choice of staff, the customer service in restaurants isn't always there. I have worked in this industry-made better money than as a booking agent. Anyway, there is a problem there.

Most in sales are trying to convince a person to buy something therefore they must have strong personalities to do this they have a high level of Christhma. This is the ability to influence people. The down fall of that is they become over confident in their Christhma and when a person who is unaffected by it or sees them when they are not "putting on the charm". This makes them look arrogant and egocentric which is true to some extent and the backfire of the power of Christhma

Think about how much money they say they are spending and work out if it is true! They may all be blowing and are in fact in debt up to their eyeballs or deeper.

Keep at it and dont spend it all by trying to keep with the jones's its a hell of lot cheaper if you drag them down to your level.

Im in to sales but do it online and remember this.....
Wages give you a living, Profits give you a lifestyle.

All the best to you
