Witch hazel can make a good toner for any skin type or skin condition.

However, to remedy large pores, I prefer plain rose water or chamomile water (you can find these at any health food store) with the addition of powdered White Willow extract (again, available at the health food store--if you can't find powdered White Willow extract in your area, you can purchase it online at http://skinactives.com/products/salicylic.htm).

Use about 1/8 teaspoon of powdered White Willow extract per 2 oz. of rose or chamomile water. Apply with a cotton ball or spritzer bottle after you cleanse your face, twice a day. You should see improvement in a couple of weeks with great results in 6 weeks.

It won't really do anything for your pores. Witch hazel is very drying and irritating to your skin. Some toners will make the pores temporarily look smaller, but this is because they cause a slight swelling of the skin due to the irritation factor.

I'm currently using witch hazel and I like it. It doesn't dry out my skin (I have combination skin) and I use it twice a day. In the mornings, I use an oil free moisturizer after applying the witch hazel and at nights and before I go to the gym, I apply aloe vera gel on my face after applying the witch hazel. My breakouts are few and far between

it does not dry out the skin as badly as alcohol products. it does not minimize pores. I don't know of anything that actually shrinks pores.

i don't know that it helps with large pores, but my daughter uses it after washing her face. it helps with breakouts and it is not harsh on the skin like what you buy over the counter.

It works a little, but it dries out your skin a lot. It depends on your skin type. I have sensitive skin, and while it did not irritate, my face got dry and flaky. Be sure to use some oil-free moisturizer afterwards!
