Has to argue with everyone who listed Kingdom Hearts. Sure it has Final Fantasy characters but it is NOTHING like Final Fantasy games. It is an action RPG and Final Fantasy games (1-10 at least) are turn based. I was personally VERY disappointed when I got Kingdom Hearts as I was expecting it to be like Final Fantasy and it was not. Just a heads up to our asker.

try Kingdom Hearts. it has a variety of Final Fantasy characters along with a bunch of new characters. however the Final Fantasy characters aren't main, playable characters, they are significant to the story.
Devil May Cry might also be a good series to try out. DMC is pretty hard though.

Suikoden 2, very great game, It may lack good graphics, but its still nice, the best thing here is this, best story ever, great soundtrack, best gameplay, not boring (not really needing to level up always), 108 characters to collect(each w/ different personalities and uses), You will make an old castle to a vibrant town through the characters, both RPG(final fantast battle style) and RTS(strategy game) don't misunderstand this, you'll fight in a party like final fanatsy(made up of 6 characters) and the RTS like is you'll fight w/ your allies

One of my all-time favourite videogames is Legend of Dragoon for the Playstation 1. It's very similar to the Final Fantasy series, and it's incredibly fun to play. The entire game spans across four discs (each a seperate act of the same story). It's got great graphics for a PS1 game, very immersive gameplay and plot, and superb acting and script.

You may want to try Anachronox for the PC if you don't mind Quake 2 engine powered graphics. It's a very good game.
