Because you have invested so much time and affection to this person, yet your efforts aren't paying off. It's all about misguided expectations. Sometimes people are incapable of reciprocating feelings for a number of reasons. But since you haven't entailed the extent of this relationship, it's hard to give you an accurate answer. when someone broke my heart, it hurt like heck.... i didnt want to do anything.... i felt empty and withdrawn from the world.. i have now gotten over it but the wound still remains.. it hurts because you wanted more from that person then you got.. and you get too attached when they are drifting away.. it sucks..
