Why there is not much poverty in Pakistan like India?

India's cast system contributed significantly to the poverty of India. The lower casts, outcasts, and untouchables had no right to own land. They were discriminated, oppressed and exploited. They were not given any chance for education and thus prosper. If land reforms is implemented most of the poverty from India can be eradicated. Population and land availabilty ratio is also a major cause, Pakistan is better off in this front than India. People of Pakistan working in Gulf countries also greatly help improving the standard of living of their country. Similarities can point out about Kerala in this regard.

The idea of poverty is different in different countries/ cultures. Pakistan is a Muslim culture where the main concept of "sharing" and accepting all as being in the same family is a benign concept - even if not every one may strictly practice the same. In India, though the basic tenets of Hindu faith prescribes the theme "SARVAE JANAE SUKINO BHAVANTHU" (The wellbeing of all humans), the society has become extremely corrupt due to various reasons, and we perpetuate extreme discriminatory practices. These are not being painted to obliterate the different progressive developments and strides made by India.

Because per head income in Pakistan is better than India... i guess india is concenterating on other things more than raising the per head income in their country like development of society etc ! becuase Indian governament is richer than Pakistan for having a bigger area and more resources and thus bigger economy !but their public is poor and only in Mombay 3 millions people sleep on footpaths at night becuase they have no homes ! while the situation is bit better in Pakistan !though not much better ! What i heard is that Indian governament has also raised their per head income last year ...and i hope this would rise even more in future becuase Mr.Manmohan singh is a good leader and doing great for their economy !

The % of people below the poverty line is higher than in India. and the Pakistani GDP is much, much lower
