Don't you just wish you were born 10 yrs later...it sucks that we didn't have the internet...having to do the old fashioned way of going down to the library to do reseach on homework etc...
also have ya noticed how people in their early twenties still keep in touch with one another from school? They don't just have several mates but seem to keep in touch with half the year! Of course having being brought up on cellphones, able to text message and now having places like Bebo and Myspace..keeps them all tight.
Okay we have classmates or friendsreunited (I'm British), which is alright but if you haven't kept in contact with people for the last 10/15 yrs it's hard to get people interested.
I bet if I was born in the mid 80's than the mid 70's I would still be in contact with many old school pals...and betcha I would have done better at school..lol
Oh well!

I used the BITNET in college. I didn't miss much. I graduated college in 1994, just before the dawn of the web and modern Internet. I would go crazy if the Internet existed in its present form back when I was in college. I'd probably have a new career, instead of healthcare, I'd be a web designer.

I know what you mean. It's rather embarrassing that my 14 year old son and 12 year old daughter have to "fix" the computer when there is a slight problem.

Kids today are so much more mature, know a heck of alot more than I did at their age and study in 6th grade what I did in 12th.

I live in a small town and alot of people I went to school with are still here. You see them in the grocery stores, department stores or when they are dropping their kids off at school. Luckily, they are more friendly now than they were when we were in school. I guess that means we grew up and got our priorities in order!?!

you make a very good point, but dont you think that every generation probably think the same kinda thing? as the years have gone on, each new generation has has an easier life than the previous one, socially & economically, mid 30's you still relate strongly to being a teenager and are up to date with technological advances made since then, its a perpetuating thing, and will probably always be there, with every new generation

I'm too young, but I've thought about the school work side of what you said. I don't know what I would have done to get through school without the internet.
I am genuinely proud of the people who had to go through journal after journal to make photocopies to write research papers. Good for you!

I am not supposed to participate since my case is far earlier. I was in primary in 1958 and highschools in 1967 and graduated in 1970. I still remember studying in hurricane lantern since electricity was the luxury of rich people. We used to walk since our precious transport was bycycle which was used by our father. The only entertainment was radio which I used go to my richer relatives to listen my favourite programme. When our PM Mr. Nehru died I remember to have glued to the radio on the road to listen the full account of his funeral. A year earlier Mr. Kennedy was killed and I remember to have wept after reading the news in newspaper. I remember to have bought so many newpaper out of my pocket money and cut out the pictures and kept them many years. I was then 13 years old. We used to sit hours on holidays before radio to listen the cricket comentary. Since I belong to India I was so fascinated with the people in other part of the world and was imagining to visit by ship to the countries by getting even cleaning job in the ship. We used to communicate with friends and relatives by postcard, and inland envelops and used to wait for their replies which used to take a month. But now I feel that with the technological advancements, the pain in the longing for someone's written communication used to be wanting. Now that intensity in relationship has gone since oral communication has taken the place of written communications. When I used to write a letter I remember that I used to find a solitude and used to write with emotions. Today when I talk with my faraway; daughter on cell phone daily or some times twice a day I dont feel those pangs which I would have enjoyed while reading her letters full of emotions.
