They were both heading Fascist parties favouring big business, both supported by the Catholic Church (conservative catholics) and the economies were very closely linked. Italy's economy was only 10% of Germanie's and totally dependant on it. They were both terrified of the growing economic power of the Communist Soviet Union and were sworn enemies of atheism, Communism and Trade Unions.
