Two weeks ago, I was offered a post to work within the government after being placed on a waiting list for three months. I have to wait for them to do security checks on me which could take up to three months before I can actually start work. I am not working at the moment and would like to know whether I am eligible for some type of benefit although I have a job offer which I cannot start yet. Only serious answers please.

Yes absolutely. Although you have a job in the pipeline, you are entitled to claim jobseekers as you will be out of work for 3 months. Its up to you whether you mention it to them or not. Personally I wouldn't, just to make sure. Jobseekers is also going up a few quid from the 14th April.
