I do have faith that turning out to be a paramedic takes some distance much less time than turning out to be psychologist. The psychologist many times takes a masters degree or doctoral to even get a pay examine. i've got asked a similar question approximately turning out to be a psychologist to a close by college. frequently a paramedic works 12hour shifts 3 days each and every week, and that i don't understand a typical schedule of a psychologist. If I have been you i might initiate by using calling a school close to you. If as an occasion you reside in Ohio you ought to inspect a place like Ohio State, or BGSU. I additionally do have faith that the two stages must be attained from a scientific college.

psychologist? like a clinical psychologist? or a forensic psychologist? there are many fields of psychology you can focus on. If you prefer clinical, you can tell you dad that you are still taking medicine, or at least, something closely related to it.
Foreview into being a psychologist:
Being a psychologist doesn't just mean getting a degree in psychology but also taking up further studies like MA or MS.
Clinical Psychology is dealing with maladaptive people or sometimes, making others feel better. It also includes diagnising people which a doctor also does.
Forensic Psychology is incorporating the law with psychology. Its like profiling a criminal. Determining what compels him/her or what he/she is to do next.
Sports Psychology- this includes coaching a team and studying their responses over punishment and motivations.
Don't worry, you dad just insists you take up medicine because he believes that your future is in that field. Talk to him and calmly express you feelings of being a psychologist instead of a doctor. Explain the process and tell him that you can still be a doctor if you pursue forther studies after MA or MS. like PhD. of Some sort. Don't worry, Dad'd do understand. Mine did, and your will too.

A psychologist is a doctor. A doctor of the mind and emotions. I don't see where he would have a basis for objecting to that. Just tell him that you are more interested in helping people live a better life than you are interested in curing their physical bodies.
And if it is income he is concerned about, I think a psychologist could earn much more than a general practitioner. If that is the case, research the incomes and present him with the facts and figures.
But it is your life, and you need to do what you need to do and not worry if he is happy with it. He won't be living your life, you will. He can get over it, and if he doesn't, it is his loss not yours.

Sit him down and say that your brother has told you that he is not happy in being a doctor, and neither do you think you would be, as you have no real interest in it, and your heart is set on becoming a psychologist. You will need some mathematics for psychological statistics; medians, modes, standard deviations, etc. Also chemistry, and biology. Investigate your proposed pathway, and convince him with the extent and depth of your commitment ( which courses in which colleges, etc. - phone, email or write to several: have it all down on paper in presentation format). It may help if your brother was there to provide moral support, and to back up your assertion.

I know what you mean, I come from a family of doctors and botanists and marine scientists and guess what?? I absolutely HATE BIOLOGY!
It is your life. Your parents should not tell you what you should be or study. It is your life. You have to live with the outcome of your decision, not your father.
Sit down and talk to him. Come up with some good solid arguments and go from there. Don't yell, it wont help.
Good luck
