3 Gb ram is very very useful for playing games in a PC,
right now i have 2 gb ram, and that too seems to be less.
try getting 3 gb ram and a good video card of Nvidia. that will make ur PC a supercomputer for playing games.
Best of luck.
and certainly 3 gb ram is not a wastage of money, its DEFINITELY gonna increase ur PC's speed and performance.

I would absolutely recommend it- however its usefulness depends on your graphics/video card and your processor speed.
I'd recommend speaking to a computer geek (annoying as they are) and find out what's out there now- you can pick up solightly older hardware (6 months+) pretty cheap now- that will work superbly.

On my system I have nVidia 7800GT vid card, and an AMD 64-3500, with 3GB (actually 4- bu the motherboard doesn't recognise it)- it's for graphic design- but games on full res, dvd's etc works brilliantly- I never have a memory issue.

Honestly- don't buy the latest release model hardware- but the 2nd or 3rd latest- and you'll save a bomb (it's outdated anyway by the time it hits the shelves).

well seing as you have 2gb already i doubt it will al be being used (unless your into playing fear on high res) so it would probably be wiser 2 get 2 1gb cards at a higher mhz (800 - 900) i would recomend. But make sure u check your motherboard 2 c if it can handle it first. That way you could always update to 4 gigs later on.

Before you do that, check your motherboard and make sure it can actually support 3GB RAM!!

In any case, I say it's a waste of money. You'll see no significant difference.

But I guess it can be a future-proof kinda thing.

If you are talking about removable memory, Its ok. As far as hard drive space, its a waste of money. I think Windows takes atleast 3gigs to install.

3 GB won't work as I know .. it should be either 2 GB or 4 GB ... but if you have a good processor than can use this memory .. then it would be good for your pc

well if you have a powerful CPU and a good graphics card and you like to play high end games then it would be worth it... and it will also be good for multi tasking as well

3GB of RAM may be good, I don't think many people will need much more than 2GB of RAM unless you want to run applications that may use lots of RAM.
