If you have infected files, you most likely need a good antispyware cleaner such as spybot or spyware terminator; run one or both first before attempting to clean the registry - both are free

Look over the http://www.vnunet.com site. Some stuff and some downloads be be worthwhile. They have some tools available there for free you would otherwise have to pay for. At one time they had a Registry Mechanic promotion going on. I think they still off Privacy Guardian for free there.

Regcleaner, is my favourite by far and very reliable. CCleaner also very good.
Worth buying the magazine PC Gamer, as they always have recent free software, i.e. virus checker, spyware terminator and reg cleaners.
You do however say 'infected' files which indicates more that you have a virus.

download the yahoo toll bar. it has a scanner on it and cleans up your pc using norton.
