AGATTI ISLAND (occassionally called "Agathy") is a small 7km long island, situated about 250kms off the Kochi Coast. It is surrounded on all sides by a beautiful coral reef. It is a part of the Lakshadweep Islands, which is the smallest union territory of India. There are only two ways of getting there, other than swimming 250kms of deep sea. Either you can take a 24hr boat journey across the sea or fly 1hr 15mins from Kochi. Only Indian Airlines operates a 10 seater Dornier to the island.

Agatti has an Aerodrome (IATA: AGX, ICAO: VOAT) - is a public domestic airport serving the Lakshadweep Islands off the west coast of India. The airport is located on the island of Agatti and is the only airstrip in Lakshadweep. It is served by one commercial airline, Indian, which flies to Cochin International Airport on the mainland.-

Just to supplement Zain's answer, Agatti is connected by air and cruise from mainland - only from Kochi. Besides Agatti, there are also other beautiful islands in Lakshadweep namely Minicoy, Kavarati, Kelpeni, Kadmat, Bangaram which are open for tourists. All these islands are inter-connected by cruise among themselves but selectively by helicopter services.
