He goes to sleep no problem at 7 pm, I give him a dream feed at 9pm and still wakes up at 3pm and 5pm and cries for a milk feed.

Well its not normal to have a 6 month old baby waking up two times if he's started solids. You should start solids for him if you haven't still. A baby this age should not need a night feed because his stomach is so big that it can store for the night now. He needs food now although he needs his formula or breastmilk also as much. If he's waking up at the same time every night then maybe its more of a habit rather than hunger. If he wakes at different timings then its maybe hunger but as you said he wakes at 3am and 5am this means he's made a habit of waking up. Try not to go in and see from far for a few days. Many times they're jsut fussing in sleep and we think they got up and we go and pick them up which makes them get up from sleep. See for a few seconds. Maybe he'll go back to sleep on his own. If not then pick him up and try not to feed him. It might be hard for a few days in the beginning but it will stop. If it doesn't work this way and he cries for feed then try giving him water in the bottle instead of formula. This way he'll be sucking and not harming himself which has worked for me. Giving formula or breastmilk in the night can be harful for his tooth when they come in because its sweet. If he has this habit now it will continue later on also and spoil his gums too and then there will be problem in his teeth. I suggest you try giving him water and slowly slowly minimize the quantity of water also. And this way his habit will finish. Good luck

Babies do not know the difference between day and night, they need to be taught as is everything else in life they will need to be taught....try keeping the child awake as much as possible during the day and go about your normal noisy routine to promote this and at night keep it quiet and the lights dimmed or completely off. At six months you can begin introducing some baby food as well. I found a great book called the baby 411, did wonders for me and my last baby!!!

If you want to put your baby to sleep in 20 seconds you must get the "Instant Baby Sleep" MP3 sound track. Here is their official web-site: http://www.instantbabysleep.net

The sound track gently produces energy over the full human hearing spectrum with an embedded pulse that gently eases the brain to the Alpha state well known for drowsiness and sleep induction.

Is he eating rice cereal yet? 6 months is when cereal is introduced and I always gave my son a few teaspoons of it before bed and he slept all night. This should keep him from getting hungry in the middle of the night. DO NOT put cereal in his bottle (If you give him a bottle), unless his doctor recommends it.
