Of course they can, but they dont want to. They enjoy sex. It isnt unrespectible to them. They are proud of who they are. Dont feel bad for them, they arnt pathetic. They know who they are, what they want and how to get it. They have gotten damn good and making men want them. Its their job.
Feel bad for the ones forced to stay in the profession against their will. Pimps are immoral. They are slave traders. That is wrong. The ones who do it willingly and make the active choice to choose that life, well... Its their life, they love it.

You're assuming that all women who work in the sex industry work in miserable conditions doing something that they are forced against their will to do. Like many people's assumptions it's not necessarily always true.
Women who do this do it primarily for the money. Look at the help wanted ads in your local metro newspaper. A good looking young girl with a good body can make literally **thousands of dollars a week** dancing at a "gentlemen's club" or being a high class escort. There are women around here where I live who are college coeds by day and at night they are pole dancing at a local club. That's how they are putting themselves though school. I'm not saying that doing this is right or wrong - just saying that "respectable" jobs don't always pay diddly poop (maybe 9 dollars an hour to be a receptionist/secretary) and you have to put up with peoples crap all the time. I'm surprised more women don't work in the sex industry actually

Most of these women are illiterate. They don't know what to do about their own life. There is one clever way of handling, but I don't know how it wud turn out for India...The swedish govt. openly extended support to such women so that they come out of their profession. They provided them with jobs and even finance. This created a revolution there, but in India I just don't know what wud happen. It is not implementation of this idea. Rather I think it is the people and how they view the whole idea of flesh trade and people involved in it, especially prostitutes. They remain to be quite incompassionate about them; most of them I mean. Hence I would think 'these' women would have the fear of being rejected in society... This is the only reason why I think this policy of extending support will fail.

Some women stay in because they are hooked on drugs. Others feel that they are used goods, & that no decent man would want them for anything but sex. This is a serious self esteem issue that this degrading profession does to these women. Some are lucky enough to get out & get married & lead respectable lives.

no women will be happy to be prostitute , but some become so ,because of the situation , once women enter into this field then off course their self esteem is loosed , and be not able to come to the normal life even after they come out of the flesh trade unless and until they are getting counselling,it will not be easy for them to be in the main stream of life
even they are facing hard situation in there own family also , so most probably they will go back to this profession again

Some times it is compulsion financial, social or deliberate touts. But rehabilitation have failed a number of times. Their rehabilitation becomes very difficult in the society. Only finanacial assistance is not always enough. Some had even moved out of the area, city, state. But their touts haunt them.
Some times their habbits, which makes them addict to se* also plays a bad role. I feel for the ones who are in it under duress. I am happy with the ones who do it with their own desire. At least they quench the thirst of those who do not have access to safe palces. It has become a costly affair. Russians charge more than Rs20,000 a night. This is virtually out of pocket for many poor, but desirous to enjoy it.
I have great sympathy for all of these classes.

but your most obvious flaw in this question is that you believe your opinion of morality is the only one.
you have attempted to label them based on your perspective on its worth.
if you remove this for a minute, you maybe able to see that though many have drug habits and such vices, many do it to pay for college or holidays away. I have met many who only did it long enough to pay for a deposit on a house. at $100-200 a trick, thats a few thousand a week. 6 months and the deposit is there.
why do any of us do what we do? because we can.
many live in atrocious situations but equally many dont.
I am neither for them nor against them, for I respect their right to choose their lifestyles. the ones who tend to live rough are the ones who live day to day from sex to drugs, and that downward spiral is the nasty end of it.
but it is not only these girls of pleasure who can hold that monopoly, no, all classes have their dirty secrets and it is just easier to focus on those in lower socio-ecomic sections.
these woman may view us as pathetic for having the lives we have. whos right in their perspectives?
to each their own, unless it involves you personally.

Flesh trade is an evil created by the society since the inception of our civilisation. Only difference is they were given different names like deva dasis, courtesan girls etc etc.Barring very few exceptions most of them are trapped in the trade, and though society find it objectionable hardly any serious steps are to eliminate this evil

Some of them just have not the strength to live another life.
Some hold on to a shred of power within and have that seed of strength to start over. Many others are broken by drugs, abuses and excesses, and just cannot see their way clear.
Remember there are levels of women in this trade. There are the bottom girls, whatever term they use. These are the ones on the streets, the slaves. There are also the very beautiful pampered sex slaves of the wealthy that are kept well and are socking away a nest egg for freedom. There are the ones who to university and do not wish to begin their professional life with a debt for schooling. There is the abandoned woman with three babies at home.
For every street worker, there is a story. Do not forget also, many of these women are slaves. Many of them are owned by some vicious male or cartel of males and they are moved about like cattle, bought and sold at a whim. These men prey on our sons and daughters, which is why we keep our children safe for as long as possible.
If we want to start balancing things out, we need to strengthen the family again. I know American is not ready for this yet, but one of the positive aspects of Islam allowing a man to have up to 4 wives, if he could afford them in all ways (time as well as $$), is that it gave a system of providing for women without husbands. Families were still strong and women provided for. This is of course in countries where women have an identity!
Start from bottom. Men stop with the **** and the sex crap you take so for granted these days. Start to remember girls have secrets. And keep a few secrets to yourself. Girls stop with the constant sex parade, dress modestly, make your body special and a bit secret, mysterious, to guys. Build up relationships, courtships, in the old fashioned way and start families with marriage and all that jazz.
Go on the premise that both sexes are completely equal. However, nature has decreed fundamental differences between us. Viva la difference! Boys need to relearn masculinity in order to develop into responsible husbands just as girls need to remember femininity to become strong young capable women of developing into the heart of a happy home.
The change needed in society comes from within, claiming our natural place in life. Today having a happy normal family is an act of complete rebellion.

That is because they can make good money. Ask any stripper. She can bring home anywhere for $300 to a $1000 a night. Where else can you make money like that, that fast? The real problem lies with the ones that go to these places or hire them for some sex, etc. If they weren't there paying them...well you get my jist. I do agree that it is a demoralizing thing for women and unfortunate that some feel it is the only way to make it in this world. But, like I said, it is a man-made thing.
