Strength. Going in your own direction is a tough decision but if you do not enjoy engineering, you would live a life of misery no matter how much the job pays, much like sticking with a bad marriage. Best of luck with your new career choice~

Um.. I don't think that you making that choice is a sign of weakness. I wouldn't know what to say of it being a sign of strength either.
It doesn't really matter what the people say, does it? What about your family? Have you discussed with them about it yeT? What do they say..?
I feel that.. If you have really thought thoroughly and are very certain that sticking around with engineering is not doing you any good, go ahead and do what you'll enjoy doing better. Sometimes, if you had to study something you didn't really fancy, it'll be a dreadful chore. At least, that's how I see it.
If you're going to feel so much better with the change, then do it. It must feel real hard on you when you "can't stand engineering anymore" and have to attend classes and stuffs. Is it? Don't let this worry you and bring you down.
But do think it through. You shan't have to think of regrets once you made your choice, alright? =) Think about asking for help if you're still uncertain. Maybe a counselor or someone. Would that work? I mean, like you said it's going to be a life changing decision. Don't look back, when you've made your option.
=3 I don't think I really helped but do cheer~ Having doubts and different opinions in life does not make you weak. Hang on there. =]

There is no point in doing a profession that does not suits you or u do not love much, you will be miserable for the rest of your life. Personally I think your decision is a very brave one because instead of sticking with something you already know and might feel safe u want to try something new that will give u the maximum satisfaction feeling, that u are doing something that u really really like and not because someone else told you to do....
I wish you the best of luck in your new venture, you are going to be just fine and do not let anyone tell you the opposite!!!

Am I safe in assuming that someone, like mom or dad, wanted you to become an engineer and you went to the engineering college because of them?
It is your life and you are the one that has to live it. If you are pursuing something that you truly desire to do and it will make you happy, then I say its a sign of strength.

The people who tell you how to live your life are not in step with what your feeling, are they?
You have no global or Universal obligation to be an engineer, or do you?
The life changing decision is about your life, correct?
If all the above are ok with you, I can't see any issue, other than you will have to listen to the "powers that be" for awhile as to how dumb you are; yet, your not and we both know this, it's your choice, your life, do what you need to do; remember, many try to live not only their lives, but the lives of others as maybe they too, wanted to be such an egineer...

I don't think it is a sign of weakness. I think it is more a sign of strength.
Do what YOU feel is right for you. If you are no longer interested in engineering after you have delved into it deeper, then go do what you want to do.
I loved accounting at first, but the thought of doing it day in and day out bored the crap out of me.
There is no sense in doing something for the rest of your life that you hate. Going to work everyday would be like getting a root canal everyday.
Find your interest and your passion. Only you can live it. No one else can.
For those who tell you to stick with it, tell THEM to go do it. And if they say they aren't interested, tell them you aren't either.

For me, going after what you love is bravery. If you stick to something you don't find satisfying then you are afraid. Afraid to loose something. But in what you have decided, you are brave enough to start anew which many people fear. You are brave enough to chase what you love. Actually making the decision is already a brave thing to do.
You know that walking away isn't a weakness, most of the time, it shows strenght.
Good Luck with you new career!
God Bless!!!

I suppose that it depends on how far you are in your course. If you have almost finished it, I'd go with it.
But I do't think you're a quitter - you make the decisions in your life. But if could, I'd stick to it simply because you've got another arrow in your bow.

Thats up to you. If your doing it for the right reasons for you, its strength. If your walking away from somthing that will never make you happy, esp. not right now, then your a strong person. The truth is, your born then you die. In the middle you have these sensations that are called experiences. You get to pick these. You might as well pick ones you enjoy, its all you get.
