Absolutely not. Canada has very strict gun laws, and we're doing fine ... just the way we are. In fact, we have an extremely low crime rate, in comparison to other countries.

In today's world I believe that people need to get their marbles checked before they are issued a gun license. In Canada, a gun license is issued when you pass a test and you also sign a consent for a criminal record check to be done by Gun Registration Officer. To me it restricts certain idiots too who may accidently harm themselves or another person in hunting accidents from carelessness or stupidity.

I will tell you a true story, one night this one guy kept on phoning the cops and he said that there was someone at the door and kept trying to break in. So the cops were parked at this isolated farm house by the road watching for any signs of break in. Technically they don't see any signs of anyone trying to break in. The cops go to the window of the farm house, they see a barrell pointing at them. If this one guy wasn't pulled down by his partner, he would've been dead. It was a mentally unstable person. This one cop I was suppose to marry could've died that night.

With all the gangs, drugs/alcohol, insanity in this world and overall crime, there is a screening process in Canada that does not allow and therefore restricts certain individuals to own a gun. Only certain people are allowed to own a gun but any criminal will get their hands on a gun if/when they have the opportunity.

Years ago in aboriginal communties guns were used for survival/food, it was during the first European contact where guns were introduced. I am aboriginal, people still hunt, I decided it is not important to me to be hunting right now because to me a gun is a large responsiblity. I did pass the test required to write but did not get my gun license. I use to hunt with my ex-husband who was more like a boy scout from the city.

My sister got held at gun point by her spouse one time, I found out years later. This guy ended up injuring another women years later now she is crippled and then the other lady which was my neice did not survive a vehicle crash. It was only my opinion that this guy was dangerous.

Too many wimps depend on guns for fighting or to settle their arguments. I often wonder how many people have died overall in the world from being shot?? War, jealous wife/husband rages, from violent crimes etc...

No. Of course not. I assume you are kidding. Strangely enough, in Oregon a city law was passed(small town, all of Native American descendants) that required all homes to have a gun present. It is near where I go to fly fish. I was always a little anxious going through that town.

Archie Bunkers philosophy was that if everyone on a plane had a gun then there would never be a hijacking. Hand out the pistols when you get on board and collect them up after you land.

Oh yes - this would make us all safer. Repeat after me - I should think about the question before I post it, so as not to appear a mega plonker.
