The only way I know how to do that is to walk away from whatever it is that's upsetting me if I don't want to do or say something that I'll regret later. Some people see walking away as giving up, but I see it as taking a time out to collect my thoughts first. Listening to the right kind of music also helps to calm me down.

Being in a calm setting. If you can't go anywhere light candles, turn off all electronics (tv, cell phone, etc), take a bath, listen to mellow music, and so forth. If you can go somewhere, maybe to the park, vacation away from the city (away from hustle & bustle of life), go for a walk, do things by yourself. Sometimes I like going to a restaurant down the street just to have a little time to myself. Things like that.

I go for a walk almost everyday...on rainy days....I stay in & listen to my headset...
For the most part...I just don't allow myself to get so out of control...that I HAVE to be calmed down...
I do ALOT of inner searching....something I have learned to do these past few wks....it helps ALOT....mainly because if I allow something or someone to get to me like that...then there is something I need to work on within me....
I spend quality time with my kids & my BF...just to keep grounded....

Lots and lots of alcohol, wait a minute, that doesn't keep me calm at all, in fact, I tell people exactly what I am thinking.....What am I thinking?

Put the tip of your middle finger to your thumb palm up and close your eyes. Count to 10 slowly and focus on breathing, nothing else. That should caaaaalm you down.

Breath work and something repetetious like folding towels.
Mostly I remind myself just to chill,
1. Am I going to die? NOPE.
2. Am I going to prison?Nope.
3. Am I in harms way? NOPE.
