I was 5 months pregnant when we signed the divorce papers. My first child I had when I was in high school, (same father.) He was not around for either pregnancy. He married me two years after my first, and divorced five months before the second.
I have found that depending on a guy for personal happiness or stability is not a good idea. Depend more on Jesus and the strength He gives to get you through situations.
On the other side, my mother has been so much to me during those times, she babysat while I worked, stayed with me when he left, and has been more like my best friend instead of mother. My husband now has taken on the role of provider and now I am not single mom anymore, but I can stay home with my children, something they have needed since they were born. I thank God for my husband and my mother. It seems like when you let go of depending on people, God brings new people into your life so that you can enjoy that feeling again.

I have had quite a few people leave me when i needed them most. I've learned to be mostly self-dependent now, but i don't know if i could take it if one more person leaves when i need them... i might break.

Yes. He went away with the 'boyz' motorbike riding and to see a girl he had met recently on another trip. (That I was unaware of).
My 37 year old horse had just passed away and I asked him to spend the weekend with me.
He rang me from 1000 km away and said he would drop in on the way back in a few days. I told him not to bother.
