I was just thinking about a time at my cousin's house. He lives just outside a midsized town in Illinois. I was on the back porch, it was sunset, it was so calm out I could hear the TV in the living room thru the open back door, their kids were running around in the yard, and suddenly all this weight just sheared off, all my garbage mechanisms for dealing with the world shut down, and there it was. For a little while.

It was like 8 years ago when I was sky diving. When my chute was released and I was just hanging there, the only thing i heard was my heartbeat. It was the most peaceful 2 minutes of my life.

Ahhhh... serenity. After I learned how to really swim well a couple of years ago, I swam out a little way, to get away from the crowds on the beach. I just floated on my back, felt the rhythm of the waves, and imagined I was a brainless jellyfish for a while. I think the "brainless" part is important.

But another time I was stung by a jellyfish... :(
