That depends on how you use the laptop. Most likely you wouldn't see much of a difference, if any, since that laptop is not equipped to run hardcore 3D games and other such applications that require more power. Therefore, unless you plan to do a lot of mutli-tasking, adding more RAM won't make much difference.

Then unless you use many programs at the same time, 1GiB should be plenty of RAM. Even when you start to run low, just increase the page file size (not to exceed 2560MB) until there's a significant performance loss - then upgrade.

I think you would be the correct person to answer the question.

Click Ctrl + Alt + Del on your computer and select Task Manager.

If you see more than 80% of your Physical Memory is used then adding more Memory would definitely help.

You are also talking about a laptop and i cannot imagine you running a data base server or some application server which can consume ur existing 1 GB or RAM which is a good amount or RAM.

So check and decide for urself. If you need any further clarifications please get back to me.

Adding memory never truly makes a computer "quicker", It just appears to be so. This is because more of the applications you open remain cashed in the PC's volatile memory i.e. RAM. To improve a PC's speed you have to change (or overclock) the CPU, or upgrade the main board (wider/faster FSB)...
Not a particularly helpful answer I know, but may interest some...

it will be quicker, but unless you regularly run it at a max capacity you wont notice.

Do you use a lot of power hungry programmes?, photo work shops, presentations with lots graphics and pics. then it might help.

General surfing, IE, Word - then don't bother.
