At what stage during pregnancy is a good time to have a baby shower? I was telling my mom that I wanted to have mine at the beginning of May, I am due in July so that would put me right around 30 weeks, but her and my stepmom keep asking me why I want it so early. Is 30 weeks really THAT early? I mostly want to have everything ready for when my little boy gets here and am very excited about preparing his room. But yeah, mostly my question is...Is 30 weeks too early for a baby shower, and if so, what would be a more appropriate time?

I'm having mine in May or June. I am due at the end of July as well. We want to have ours early because summer is just too hot and humid where we are. I am 21 weeks as of now and want to have a baby shower then also because the just in case scenario. If the baby is earlier than expected we want to have the things that are going to be provided at the shower. I think it varies on when a person has a shower. Also, May is when most of my friends and family are available as most have children who are either just out of school or are vacationing from work. Summer schedule would be so busy for them. It was also great for us as well.

21 weeks pregnant with baby girl.

Thirty weeks isn't too early. I had mine on July 17th 05, my baby was born Aug. 12th 05. I actually wish I would have had it earlier because I didnt have everything organized the way I wanted it to be and it was a little bit of a problem trying to do it with a newborn to take care of. Having it early is also a good idea in case your little one decides to greet the world early. My uncles girlfriend was 8 weeks early and didnt have her baby shower until after the baby was born! That must have been terrible for her! Also, if you have it early you can see what you get in the shower and what you still need to buy. It'll give you lots of time to get out and get the stuff you need that you didnt get at the shower.

30 weeks is fine. my baby boy is due july 18th and im having my shower may 19th. it gives you enough time to prepare everything and get the room finalized. that way you wont have to do it when your too big and too tired. and also theres the security that if the baby comes early you will be ready! good luck!

I prefered to wait till I knew what sex the baby was so I didnt end up with a bunch of green and yellow stuff. I wouldn't wait till a month before hand because alot of babies are born a month earlier then expected. Around 4 or 5 months is a good time. Then the parents to be will know what else they need for the baby and have time to get it.

I would elect to have the shower earlier rater than later. I've had two showers the first my family planned 3 1/2 weeks before my due date... My son got to be present. After that they made my second 6 weeks before. It's always better to play it on the safe side. Plus, you have the added benefit of plenty of time to get things ready..clothes and bedding washed, toys put away, crib set up, swing assembled, figuring out how to install car seat, etc. Good luck with your shower! And Congratulations on your new little boy.

I had mine after my daughter was born. That way, I didn't have all the yellow and green generic gifts.... I loved the fact that every gift for her was girly-girly, pink and flowery.

However in your case, even though you know the gender of your baby don't go boy crazy just yet - mistakes can happen. My childhood friend found out that she was having a boy and painted the room blue and went boy crazy and she had a girl!

So, after my long story...... the most appropriate time is when you feel you are up to it!

I'm 29 weeks and am now wishing my shower were early (it's to be in May, one month before I'm due). I'm feeling great now, aside from the minor back aches, and now that when I'm about 36 weeks, I won't want to sit around and have people crowding around me. I think you're choosing to have yours at a perfect time!

I'm actually having three baby showers. My boyfriend's parents are each throwing us one (they are separated) and my mother is also throwing us one.

I believe one of mine is in May , and I told my mother I wanted the one she's throwing in June. and I think Josh's (my b/f) mom is throwing one after we have the baby. & I'm due July 12th.

So I disagree with your stepmom. I feel like 30 weeks is a good time to have a baby shower.

And Congratulations on your little boy!!! =]
