It works like a cell phone, with reception any place your cell works. Perhaps it comes from Verizon? Who could share some info about this.... or about alternate methods of improving the speed over dial-up...-- or tell me more about 'satilite'

satelite- normally only used when no other options are available. the downstream is over sat but the return path is dial up. expensive and slow in one direction. ie you pages are fast to download but requests for pages and sending emails etc is slow

the Verison thing sounds like broadband (adsl- prob over thelephone line) with a wireless router and a cell phone that is able to use voip (voice over internet) when you are in range of your home wifi router. (it might also provide an account for using in some hotspots- commercial places that provide wifi eg coffee shops)

it is just broadband though with a few bells and whistles.

the wireless element is just your own broadband be distributed wirelessly not some wireless signal coming directly from a provider

dial up is crap- personally i would go for broadband over cable rather than telephone wire

I have a wireless laptop, i can use it anywhere in the house or at school or any place (some cities are wired). the phone has it own internet and you can carry the phone and internet with you at all times.
JPM--
The Java Portfolio Manager (JPM) allows you to display and edit your portfolios and views in one interface. To use it, you need Netscape or MS Internet Explorer version 3.0 or higher. The JPM has been tested on Windows (95 and NT) as well as one flavor of Unix, but should run fine on most platforms. This is a beta application, and is missing some features which will be added in the full version. The JPM has a number of benefits over "classic" (HTML-based) portfolios:
More information on JPM is at the site listed in sources

If you have dialup and you know it's slow you might want to consider switching to cable IE: broadband internet which is alot faster, wireless you will not get very good speeds maybe around the same as ISDN or a bit lower, but broadband is the route to go specially if you get in when they are having a special!

goodluck!
